It has been some time on the jailbreak development to find and acutally use an appropriate security breach in Apple’s iOS mobile operating system which is based on a Linux Darwin Kernel.
Evasi0n iOS 7 Jailbreak
The development team from evad3rs is the first group who releases an untethered jailbreak for iOS7 which is still permanent after rebooting the system. Before, only tethered jailbreaks for iOS7 where available that need to be reactivated after every system reboot of Apple’s operating system. The version of the new jailbreak for iOS 7 is simply called ‘evasi0n 7‘.
The new version of evasi0n 7 supports all Apple devices running iOS 7.0 up to 7.0.4 – which was only possible before on an iPhone 4 using a tethered jailbreak.
Download iOS 7 Jailbreak
The jailbreak is free to download and available for Windows (from Windows XP on) and Mac (minimum Mac OS X 10.6 – Snow Leopard) and uses the USB interface to transfer and install the jailbreak files into the iOS system. Changes done with evasi0n 7 are permanent and still in place after rebooting the system.

Install the Jailbreak for iOS 7
Such a process of flashing your phone data always starts with a full backup of your existing data, so that you can easily restore the last working backup to be back to normal quickly if something goes wrong!
Create a full unencrypted backup using iTunes and deactivate the authentication code which blocks the keyboard for user pin authentication process. This code login must be deactivated in order for the jailbreak to successfully inject the jailbreak code and restart the system automatically several times during the jailbreak process.
After the installation is finished successfully, users have free choice to install additional apps onto their iPhone and iPad using the alternative app store Cydia.
Interesting to notice here was the direct reaction of Jay Freeman (many folks know him as Saurik from Cydia App):
Saurik claims, he hasn’t been informed prior release of this jailbreak to provide an official Cydia app version for iOS 7 😉
As this is the first Jailbreak for iOS7 yet that works untethered, we will see responses from the community and other development groups pretty soon after christmas holidays. Stay tuned on Tech Crates and Merry Christmas to everyone!
