Typical Video Surveillance to be a Thing of the Past as Facial Recognition takes the center stage

A number of industries are integrating facial recognition into their security mechanism with the help of various AI-based firms.

World of Facial recognition

The world of security technology has changed with the advancement of technology, especially in the last decade. From wired video surveillance and passcodes to wireless cameras and facial recognition, the current age of wearable tech and integration of AI technology has changed the authentication process to a great extent.

The human face has become a digital ID that authenticates the person with the help of an automatic computer system. Over the years, we have witnessed a widespread predominance of this technology at airports and other public areas. The scope of this technology is not limited to a specific sector or a mission. It can be useful in many sectors across the globe.

Facial Recognition and security

Facial recognition is not only being used by security professionals at this stage, but also various governments are using this technology to protect sensitive information. A number of industries are integrating facial recognition into their security mechanism with the help of AI-based firms that are exploring various dimensions of this technology and making new breakthroughs with the passage of time.

One such firm is the Singapore-based XRVision. The facial recognition and video analytics company has robust image analysis solutions available on various form factors, from sUAS, wearable mobile edge devices to high-performance cloud-based solutions, ensuring a seamless performance.

On the basis of its capability to expand into various industries, XRVision received funding from the Luxembourg-based investment firm Boundary Holding, led by Rajat Khare, in the second quarter of 2018. Ever since, the company has been utilizing the funds to expand into new markets.

“We value the potential of XRVision’s AI-based technology in recognizing faces, whilst extracting actionable data to maintain public order, and its ability to expand into various industries to assure safety,” Rajat Khare quotes.

Currently, XRVision has clients in Singapore, Taiwan, Israel, the US, the UK and Thailand. Founded in 2015, the company’s sentinel AI platform includes dozens out-of-the-box video analytics functions that can solve complex visual and data analytics in verticals such as homeland security.

Present Scenario of facial recognition technology

Given the increasing need of facial recognition technology, the role of AI-based companies like XRVision will be crucial, as these firms look for more innovation to offer the best performing solutions in critical missions. The investment from Boundary Holding has come at the right time to help the start-up leverage its potential in the coming years.

The integration of a complex technology like facial recognition may have been difficult to imagine twenty years ago, but it is translating into a real thing today. At this juncture, it won’t be a stretch of imagination to say that the typical video surveillance will soon be a thing of the past as facial recognition takes the center stage.
