Lighthouse and Fort of Aguada

If you are near Sinquerim Beach then you can easily reach the Aguada Fort or Aguada Lighthouse. These two stunning monuments were built by the Portuguese who were its ancient rulers during the year 1612 to protect against the Foreign Dutch forces and Maratha local forces. These two ancient monuments served as point of orientation for the shipping vessels arriving from European countries. The word, Aguada in Portuguese refers to water as the fort grounds had a fresh-water spring that offered water to the ships that passed by. This lighthouse built in the year 1864 at Aguada is the tallest one in Goa and houses four storeys and is the oldest one in Asia.

Colva Beach
