How to get Better Mobile Reception

It seems that every single cell phone provider insists that their mobile network is better than the competition. It’s hard to know what the truth is because the statistics are so skewed towards one perspective. Regardless of which kind of cell phone you have, there are ways to get a better connection. It’s true that some providers are better than others, depending on what you’re looking for, but you don’t have to pay huge fees to switch over or drop your plan entirely when you could just employ a few simple tricks to get the most out of your mobile phone connection.

better mobile reception

Battery Life

People aren’t aware of this, but your battery life has a lot to do with the quality of your reception. Often times, it has much less to do with your provider and more to do with how many programs, widgets, or apps are running in the background. For example, if you constantly have your Bluetooth device running in the background, it very quickly eats away at your battery. Other things like the brightness level of your background screen and other apps that are always turned on will greatly diminish your battery and wreak havoc on you mobile’s reception.

Network Extender

Network extenders are a relativity new form of technology that creates a stronger signal from your phone. It’s a hybrid amplifier/repeater that’s designed for anyone to increase the range and strength of the signal your phone’s receiving. Network amplifiers/extenders can be used with most cell phone providers and don’t require much installation. Check online to see if your phone will support one of these devices.

Cell Repeater

Cellular repeaters take a little more understanding of cell technology such as which frequency your carrier is using, but they are excellent at improving how well your cell phone can capture a good signal. This is usually used by people that live in areas with poor connections, and are able to pick up low cell signals with an antenna. This antenna then boosts the signal and sends it out and broadcasts it across a larger coverage area. You usually only need about two bars signal to get it to work, but it will definitely increase the reception of your cell phone.

Before you call your provider and try to alter any Cell Phone Plans, see what you can do to boost your phone’s capabilities. Sometimes it takes very simple steps to get your phone working far better. Canceling plans or resigning to a better contract can cost a lot of money so look at other more cost effective ways you can have a better phone without buying a new one.

The best way to get better service is to remove the battery for cdma phones or battery and sim for gsm. this will clear out your prl(prefered roaming list) this is a list of suitable cell towers to use that gets updated by the network as you move. sometimes moving quickly or just the phone having a glitch will cause the phone not to update the PRL. The only way to know your phone is moving from one cell tower to another is that it has zero bars. otherwise its always reaching out for that 1 tower 10 miles away when you got 1 right next to you. that why some people same network same phone have different coverage

I have an excellent life span of my battery with my Sony Ericsson Elm. It’s a totally environmental phone and it saves battery life, and does all those brightness reduction and similar stuff automatically.
