Design and Build
The Huawei Ascend G 615 looks very much alike its predecessor, the Huawei Ascend G 600. Upon closer examination though, you will notice that it Ascend G 600 is a bit thicker. The phone is quite large – 134 mm by 67.5 mm by 10.5 mm. It also weighs approximately 145 grams, which is exactly the same as the Ascend G 600 and the Ascend D1 Quad XL. The G 615 features a 4.5 inch display. It makes use of the IPS technology and comes with a 1280 by 720 pixel resolution.
The back panel cover is still made of polycarbonate materials. However, it already features a matte and textured finish instead of the past glossy finish. This resulted in the improvement of the overall physical appearance and the ergonomics of the phone, which means that it is easier and more comfortable to hold. In terms of build quality, the G 615 is rigid and twist resistant.
Camera and Multimedia
The Huawei Ascend G 615 features a rear camera that has an 8 megapixel resolution and a dual LED flash system. The camera located at the smartphones front only features 1.3 megapixels, but it is still better than the one you will find in the G 600. The phone also comes with the same sensors that are built into the Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL, which is why you can expect the same camera results.
The rear camera produces a lot of detail and vivid colors when photos are taken with enough lighting. There is a bit of noise though when taking pictures in dark settings. All in all, the G 615’s back camera produces better results and more lifelike colors compared to the camera of the G 600.
Performance
In terms of performance, the Ascend G 615 exceeds that of the G 600. This is mainly because the G 615 comes equipped with a quad core processor that has a 1.4 GHz clock speed as opposed to the 1.2 GHz dual core CPU of the G 600. In addition to this, the G 615 also comes with greater system RAM – 1 GB DDR3. Also, instead of the Adreno 203 that is found in the G 600, the G 615 comes with a different GPU – it makes use of Huawei’s own Vivante GC400 15-Core GPU. As a result, the Ascend G 615 performs quite well and is noticeably faster.
The Verdict
Overall, the Huawei Ascend G 615 scores better than its predecessor. This is a nice phone to have, especially since it is reasonably priced. There is no problem with connectivity as well, so you might find this Smartphone a great addition to your business and to your VoIP needs.
