What is Maildir?
It is simply an e-mail file format, a new way of storing e-mail messages, in this a directory normally named Maildir is created for each email user. And this directory divided into three more subdirectories i.e. tmp, new and cur. The maildir retrieving, deleting as well as location a specific mail is fast.
