Doodle is a series of smartphones made by the company that is loved by the people because of their large displays and fast processors. Micromax has just revealed its 4th phone in the Doodle series and to be released next week. This smartphones is slated to be the successor of Canvas Doodle 3 and sure to be lapped up by the people because of its monster sized screen.

Micromax Canvas Doodle 4

The latest Canvas Doodle 4 will have a 6 inch large screen and it will certainly be the largest display ever in a Micromax phone. The fact that Micromax has decided to sell this large phablet device at a very modest price of Rs. 9499 has created a buzz among the rivals of the company. Indian consumers have not seen a smartphone with such a huge display before. It is this feature that is going to be the USP of this smartphone.

Despite the fact that Canvas Doodle 4 has aroused so much of curiosity among the buyers, there is absolutely nothing about this amazing smartphone on the official website of Micromax. The company has made no official announcement about the phone and it is not even listed on theircompany site. However, given the fact that this large sized smartphone with a 6 inch screen will be priced at just Rs. 9499 is an indication of things to come. Do not expect high end features of path breaking specifications with this new phone from Micromax.

Display

As mentioned above, it is the display of Micromax Canvas Doodle 4 that will be its unique selling point. This phone will boast of a 6 inch monster screen even though it will only produce a resolution of 960 x 540p. The phone will make use of IPS LCD screen with a disappointing qHD display. However, this will not deter many of the buyers as they will be more interested in the size of the screen rather than its brightness or resolution. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass so you can breathe easy.

Processing power

Micromax Canvas Doodle 4 will be fitted with a 1.3 GHz quad core processor from MediaTek. This smartphone will boast of 1 GB of RAM and onboard storage of 8 GB. Users will have the option of expanding this internal memory using micro SD cards up to 32 GB. These specs mean that Doodle 4 will be no advancement over its older siblings. Micromax is trying to sell a smartphone with average specs solely on the basis of a very large display.

Dimensions

Micromax Canvas Doodle 4 is certainly a very large phone that resembles a small notebook in dimensions. It measures 165.5 x 85.3 x 8.5mm. Though the phone is not very slim, it is certainly a handful and looks like a 7 inch tablet in the hands of a user.

Camera power

Micromax Canvas Doodle 4 is a dual camera device with an 8 MP camera at the rear and a front 2 MP camera for taking selfies and also for video chatting. Rear camera has features of autofocus and LED flash. Rear camera also boasts of Geo tagging, face detection, and touch focus. Though these cameras are nothing to write home about, they do click sharp images and the rear camera can record high quality videos in all lighting conditions.

Connectivity features

Canvas Doodle 4 has decent connectivity features. It is Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and it can become a Wi-Fi hotspot. It has GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth V4.0, FM radio with RDS, and micro USB V2.0. This smartphone has an HTML browser. Sadly, this smartphone does not support 4G connectivity. This phone comes with a stylus. It is packed with a large 3000mAh Li-ion battery that provides enough power to last for a full day’s work. Perhaps Micromax realized that the phone would run out of battery if it used a higher resolution on display of the phone. This is why this monster sized screen phone has an average resolution.

Conclusion

Canvas Doodle 4 is a dual SIM smartphone with both SIMs being GSM. It runs on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop. For all those who travel a lot, the large screen of this smartphone would work like a magnet as they can view movies and watch video songs while on the move. However, the fact that Doodle 4 does not offer support to 4G connectivity is a big drawback of this smartphone. Many of the smartphones available in this price range offer full support to 4G services.

On paper, there is nothing special except very large screen size in Micromax Canvas Doodle 4 as it has very ordinary specifications that are easily available in a Rs. 5000 smartphones being sold in the market. However, the fact that its 1.3 GHz processor is octa core means that it allows the user to indulge in multitasking without causing any problems. Also, there is 1 GB of RAM in combination with this processor which means that the phone gives a very smooth performance. To make the phone last for a long time with such a large display that Canvas Doodle 4 has, there is a mammoth 3000mAh battery which is understandable.

There are some things going in favor of Canvas Doodle 4 however. It is a sleek phone with a very beautiful design. Despite having a monster sized screen and a very large battery, this smartphone is surprisingly lightweight. It has a metallic design and a matt finish means the phone grips well in the hands of the user despite its huge size. The display looks good despite a low resolution but the touch features of the phone are not very responsive.

On the whole, Micromax Canvas Doodle 4 provides good value for money to all those who yearn for a large display and do not make a fuss with other features that are ordinary in this smartphone.
