Turn Off And Disable Features And Apps

Any features and apps you aren’t using but still have turned on will continue to draw battery power, which will reduce your charge. This could be anything from GPS, Bluetooth, or apps that auto update. Get into the habit of turning off and disabling features and apps that you are not using. Periodically browse through your apps and consider removing any that you do not need anymore. Also look to see if your smartphone has a feature that allows you to determine which items use the most of your phone’ s battery life.

Charge Your Phone With Intention

Instead of charging your phone only when you remember, or every night while you are sleeping, get into the habit of charging your phone with intention. To extend the life of your battery, it is best if you do not let your phone fall below a 50% charge, do not allow it to charge to 100%, and do not leave it plugged in and charging for an extended period of time once it is fully charged. To help charge your phone while running errands in the car, consider purchasing a solar charger, or a charger that plugs directly into your car.

Disable Alerts

One of the many conveniences of having a smartphone is that you can be alerted of not only your voicemails and phone calls, but any new emails and social media updates. Each time you are sent new alerts, you use more of your battery power. While you may rely on your phone to keep you updated for one or two of your email accounts, consider if you really need to be notified every time an incoming email or social media update occurs.

Upgrade Your Phone

Battery life is a common concern for many consumers who use their cell phones for both their personal professional needs. If you find that your phone consistently fails to deliver the charge you need to get through the day, consider replacing your battery altogether, or upgrading to a phone designed to have extended battery life.

Keep Your Phone At The Appropriate Temperature

Some cell phones are designed with extremely cold, or extremely warm temperatures in mind; however, most phones will use more energy when they are kept in extreme heat, direct sunlight, humidity, or cold weather. If your phone will be exposed to extreme weather, consider turning your phone off until you return to a comfortable temperature.

By keeping the above tips in mind you can reduce the frequency in which you charge your phone, and how often you have to fret about losing battery power when out and about.
