Nokia Lumia Roundup

Recently, Nokia unveiled the Lumia 610, their fourth phone to feature Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS. The whole lineup is now the Lumia 610, 710, 800 and 900.

You can tell that Nokia and Microsoft are serious about taking a gamble in the smartphone world by offering four different phones to cover all the price ranges. Of course, the Nokia Lumia 610 is the cheapest while the 900 is the most expensive.

But what do these phones have that’s making them such a massive hit these past few months? Aside from heavy advertising, these phones are actually made of quality parts. If you’re looking to sell your phone for an upgrade and fancy yourself a Lumia smartphone, then check out this list.

Nokia Lumia 700 Series

Screen

For the 610, 710 and 800, you have a 3.7 inch screen. The downside of the 610 is that it’s just a plain LCD screen.

But of course, the Nokia Lumia 710, 800 and 900 offer a better screen, thanks to ClearBlack AMOLED technology, which gives the same effect of Samsung’s Super AMOLED display. Everything looks really astounding. The Lumia 900 sports a 4.3 inch display, which is the biggest of the bunch.

All phones have a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. While this is dictated by Microsoft, don’t be disappointed. The blocky Live Tiles work really great and the resolution is totally engineered to work with the software.

The resolution really complements the features of the phone to achieve a great effect. Look at the iPhone 4S, it’s a superb phone, but the screen isn’t even HD! That’s the same effect Mango has on the screen.

Nokia Lumia 900 Series

Camera

Both the 610 and 710 have 5.0 megapixel cameras. The take average pictures, but the 710 has more features since it has much more processing power.

The 800 and 900 are camera powerhouses though. Both of them have 8.0 megapixel lenses that are superb in quality. Pictures are very accurate and lifelike thanks to Carl Zeiss optics.

If you know Nokia, they rely on Carl Zeiss optics on their high – end phones to create stellar shots. If you’re a guy that likes to take plenty of pictures and you want consistency, then the Nokia Lumia 800 or 900 is the phone for you.

Cellular Networks

The Lumia 610 rides on EDGE, or 2G. This may be a disappointment for some, but given the nature of the phone, it’s expected.

The Lumia 710 rides on 3G, which obviously fares better than the Lumia 610. Of course, the 800 and 900 are significantly faster devices.

The 800 uses HSPA+ data to give you amazing download speeds, while the 900 gives you access to 4G LTE for everything you want.

Conclusion

These four Nokia Windows Phones represent the future of smartphones. While that may be an overstatement, you can see that at least they’re trying something new when it comes to design and software.

Selling your phone for any of the four phones mentioned here is a great investment. You’ll definitely come to love Nokia’s gamble.

Hi joni, thanks for the comment.

If you like apps, widgets and a customizable look Android is great to choose but it’s more prone to spyware/malware while Nokia has simpler look and better hardware components but if your integrated apps crashes, the whole OS might crash.

Both are actually great phones just as long as it suits to what you need or prefer. 🙂

Sadly, Nokia seems to lose its stand as the old time.

I use a combination of a smart phone (HTC) for web browsing, and a very old style (black and white screen) nokia to make my calls as I love the simplicity. It would be interesting to try a newer nokia to see if they are still really simple to use.
