History of Paint.NET
Initially, Paint.NET was started as a simple student project by Rick Brewster in 2004, who claimed that the main application version 1.0 was developed within 4 months containing 36,000 lines of written C# source code using the Microsoft .NET Framework. All features of Microsoft Paint and Paintbrush have been re-implemented and made available as freeware application for everyone to download and install.
Further releases and milestones of Paint.NET Development came rapidly with Version 1.1 and 2.0 in Brewser’s autumn semester.
Today, the development team consists out of 3 developers who all work for Microsoft by now. Next feature releases are planned and rolled out soon.
