Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has rolled out a smart watch on September 04, which functions as an accessory to its market-topping Galaxy smartphones, with a small screen providing basic tasks such as pics, hands-free calls and immediate messaging. The globe’s top handset manufacturer expects the Galaxy Gear will enhance the appeal of its range of Android-powered smartphones, as it fights to keep up its superiority in the speedily saturating high-end cellular phone market against key competitor Apple Inc.
Company announced its Galaxy Gear with the commencement of the IFA consumer electronics trade show in German capital, Berlin this year. It also hints that the South Korean firm is more than just a quick follower in novelty behind tech giant Apple that is proposing to roll out an innovative iPhone by the coming week but is yet to go public with any wearable devices.
What’s special in Galaxy Gear?
“It’s a companion tool, which will keep us continuously linked,” Samsung Executive VP of Marketing Lee Young-hee said media people in Seoul prior to the smart watch’s introduction.
“It will augment user experience with the Galaxy Note 3 and with this, we aspire to form an innovative way of life trend, primarily eyeing young fashion arbiters and style idols.”
Attractive Features
The smart watch comes with a 1.63” (4.14- centimeter) screen in addition to a basic camera, and will hook up to the company’s newest Galaxy Note 3 smartphone through wireless Bluetooth technology. It will create calls, exhibit messages, make recordings and snap pics, all while the user’s handset remains in their pouch or purse.
The triumph of Samsung’s newest smart watch – clunky earlier editions in the years 1999 and 2009 didn’t fall well with users – will be measured as much in how it influences sales of well known Galaxy smartphones as in sale facts of the gadget itself.
Not revolutionary
The Gear, which will hit markets after this month at a price of $299, doesn’t have a supple or rounded display, which a few business watchers had trusted to witness on Samsung’s most modern products.
In its place, its organic light-emitting diode touch screen boasts half the picture superiority of high-end smartphone presentations.
It consists of around 70 committed apps comprising a few basic fitness application programs like as a step-counting passometer, even though the company expects this number will go up as developers get on the project.
The company also introduced the latest edition of the Galaxy Note series at its Galaxy unpacked occasion in Berlin, before the inauguration of IFA this year.
With our technology revolution, we see new tech gadgets nearly every day, which raises the question: What to do with all these old mobile phones and gadgets? Effective ways to recycle and sell your old tech are the key.
